    Hey guys, just sent a circular message on this matter.
    Any of you have some experience uber-turtling?

    Lets discuss about defenses and its ideal numbers in relation to the others.

    I dont use ion cannons for one, so how about that? im usually crystal starved (heavy researcher here) and their low attack value makes them useless to me, better get more fodder and divide the attack chances on bigger defenses.


    Feel free to post questions of your own too, im fairly experienced on this, but i want to know what went wrong when i got crashed a few years ago Smile

    Basically, people go for others when they see the profit. I guess you focused a lot of resource at single planet. If this is not the case, it goes to the matter of fleets Razz. The defenses are useless when they nuke them down. So, you should make sure that you have enough anti-IPM. And you should get both shields on your planet Smile it makes quite of difference depends on your research level Smile

    If you are not a miner, just do fleet saving Razz

    Your ratio looks fine to me. From my point of view, RC and SL are just same, so if you need crystal then building up RC is another choice Very Happy

    Ah! For the IC, it is really similar to shields. It doesn't do the damage, but it protects GC and Plasma from destroying because of its shield. You can think of it as extra Shield Dome. If you think you need more of those, IC is there for you.

    Well, i kinda omitted the shield gens, its obvious that i have them.

    Regarding the Ion Cannon (IC) I dont think it works that way. Sure it will absorb a large amount of damage but only if it gets hit. So in order to get them to actually defend other structure you have to have them in massive numbers. What's it base shielding? just 500, that means 1 single battleship can take out its shield in one turn and then as it reaches lower HP it can get disabled.

    Its not like the total sum of shields of your structures gets targeted first, you can have 100000 shields but if all enemy ships happen to hit your only plasma cannon, that's good bye plasma. It is a per-target calculation. You surely know this, right?


    Oh and as Heisenberg posted a few days ago, a clarification:
    Defenses do not go into debris.

    Well yeah I know it works that way, but I was saying it as compare to cost of it. Also, I believe I played long enough to see that the system does not ever attacks GC or Plasma at first. If the difference between defenses and fleets are great, then yeah it will take down w.e. it is. But as long as there are no big differences, RC, SL, HL, IC are the first thing they hit. GC and Plasma goes down bit later than other cannons. (And, I am not saying that they never goes down at the first round. They are going to be destroyed, but the ratio of it is much less. e.g. 200 RC vs 1~2 Plasma etc. Ratio is very important in this game for that reason.) IC has no great damage, but it has the highest shield strength. (Even compare to Plasma or GC.)

    In my experience, building ICs is still worth it, but not many. HL is better than IC compare to price, but it has a different role in this game.

    Indeed, its a different role, a role not really needed in the beggining when you have to get tons of research done.

    Maybe later on I will use IC as a crystal dump but as you said, not too many of them. I believe we can agree in that point. HL is awesome at that too, similar cost but it takes down 1 light fighter in 1 hit. Super useful.


    Im saving up to build my nanite factory right now (research ready!), im dying to build more defenses but im gonna hold it for a while x-x

    about defences you have to remember one thing: there will be always a flett stronger than your defences, and in this universe there is also the ACS.

    Anyway build it according to your frequency of play, if you log in every 3 hours you have not to build any kind of defence, but if you log in once every 12 hours build some defences in order to avoid farm attacks.

    My defence building ratio is:
    200 RL
    80 LL
    20 GC
    5 PL
