Okay here is what I found in forums. The author asked this same question and refers to having Antigame. They said:
That is a function of Anti-game, as it's not part of the standard game... but I'm not exactly sure what it's supposed to mean. There's no such things as 'expedition points' but it may be a reference to how much you could expect as a return for expeditions.
It then follows to say that yes its probably what you can expect in terms of pay offs. In that the more you send in terms of fleet the more you can gain. However remember the more you send the more you can also run up against by way of pirates and aliens. When you send a very large combat force you get a better chance of finding lots of similar types of ships to bring back. But Pirates and Aliens usually match you closely in ships/types/numbers and where pirates usually are a easy kill with small losses aliens usually have better tech and you most likely will lose what you sent.
Its a gamble of course.
